TickleJar was an opportunity to explore generative AI by making a product rather than only talking about the technology.
A real experience is a better test
A prototype can make a new capability feel magical in minutes. A product asks less glamorous questions: Is it useful? Is the experience understandable? What happens when the result is surprising or wrong?
Designing around uncertainty
Generative systems require us to think differently about predictability, user expectations, and the boundaries between a suggestion and a decision. The experience has to make those boundaries understandable.
What I value in building
I enjoy getting my hands into the actual work. It forces ideas to contend with implementation details and gives me better reasons for the advice I offer to teams.
